Rock properties
Moisture content, density and porosity (buoyancy/calliper methods), slake durability and point loads (in-lab or field) are performed on rock cores of all sizes, including irregular shaped samples.
We specialise in rock mechanics testing, providing data such as uniaxial compressive strength, deformability (Young's modulus and Poisson's ratio), and splitting tensile strength. We also perform direct shear strength tests and measure sound velocity using both P-wave and S-wave methods. These tests yield critical data on rock properties, enabling informed decision-making for geological and engineering applications.

Uniaxial compressive strength, Young’s modulus (secant and tangent), and Poisson’s ratio are determined using local strain measurement extensometers, suitable for all rock types and core sizes. Direct shear tests are conducted on rocks with natural defects, discontinuities, or planes of weakness under normal loading conditions to assess shear strength and the internal angle of shearing resistance.
We perform sound velocity analysis using the ultrasonic pulse transmission technique, a non-destructive method for measuring P-wave and S-wave velocities through the fabric of rock specimens. These results are used to establish predictive correlations for porosity, strength, static modulus, and dynamic elastic constants.
